Reduce Your Energy Bills With a Tankless Water Heater
(By Stu Silverman)Who doesn't enjoy the soothing feeling of hot water when showering, washing dishes, cleaning clothes or soaking in the tub? And without hot water it would be difficult to clean ourselves, our home and the items in it. But the constant heating of water in your hot water heater is a big waste of energy.
Traditional water heaters heat water constantly
Traditional water heaters have a tank where water is kept hot in case you need it. The water heater continually expends energy to keep the water hot - even when you don't need hot water, even when you're away from home.
Tankless water heaters heat water only on demand
By contrast, tankless water heaters have no tank, so they don't need to heat water constantly. They heat water only on demand - when you turn on the hot water tap. So when you're not using hot water, you're not paying to heat water. And therein lie the savings.
Never run out of hot water
With a tankless hot water heater, you won't run out of hot water as you might with a traditional hot water heater (when you use up the hot water in the tank). Since the water is heated on demand, you get exactly the amount of hot water that you need.
Set the water temperature
You can set the temperature on a tankless water heater, just as you would on a regular water heater. Set the temperature lower if you have small children, or higher if you like to take hot showers.
Higer price is offset by energy savings and tax incentives
A tankless water heater may cost a little more than a regular water heater, but will save you money on your energy bills each month. Over time the monthly savings will pay for the difference in price, and you will continue to save money each month for the life of the tankless water heater. There are also government tax incentives and rebates for qualifying tankless water heaters, which can save you even more money.
I was very satisfied with your energy auditor. He was very qualified and spent a great deal of time with me. The energy audit was very informative.
